Hello May! Here is this weeks tasting menu.

Sip pretty in the outdoor tasting area this week. Here is what we are sampling.

White Flights:

This week we are featuring all our Estate grown wines on the white tasting flight. Enjoy these grown in Richmond wines!

First, sip on Schonburger 2018. A true Richmond estate wine produced from German-style grapes. On the nose are aromas of sweet and spicy baking spices combined with exotic floral, lychee, and citrus. This vintage has delicate lychee and melon flavours, sweet spice, and a smooth, floral finish.

The second wine you are sipping on is made from the Hungarian grape Perle de Csaba, grown in our own vineyard, this wine has pronounced Muscat notes-- find juicy honeysuckle, jasmine, and violet aromas, followed by ripe peach, lemon, and tangerine on the palate. Surprisingly, this wine is dry, not sweet like many Muscat wines. The lingering notes of ginger and limestone make this a great accompaniment for goat cheese or other light cheeses, or with white fish such as a sole or halibut.

Contact Pinot Gris is what we are famous for! This estate grape is grown right here in Richmond, you can see it as you come off the 99 onto Steveston Highway. Partially barrel-fermented, this wine has notes of red fruit, strawberry and cherry, and a smooth buttery finish. Very versatile, off-dry with a slight pink hue, our Contact Pinot Gris pairs wonderfully with charcuterie, smoked salmon, prosciutto and melon, and goes great with holiday dinner!

Next up is Back Forty 2018, a blend of our Estate grapes—Schönburger, Perle de Csaba and Pinot Gris. It is lightly off-dry and combines the lychee and spice notes from Schonburger with floral and honey-driven flavours from the Perle de Csaba. A drier version than 2017, this refreshing wine is great for the patio, served with appetizers, or as a dinner pairing with seafood entrees like seared scallops with mango salsa.

The final sample is Pinot Grigio 2019, a good-bodied wine with aromas of citrus, apples and spring flowers. Flavours of bold pear and stone fruit flavours, and a crisp finish. The perfect patio sipper!

Red Tasting Flight

Start with the Cabernet Franc 2017. This red wine has aromas of cassis, bell pepper, leather and a hint of toasted oak. With notes of red currant, cranberry and anise on the palate, this wine finishes with well-balanced acidity and medium tannins.

This new Pinot Noir 2018 vintage has a clean, soft and balanced flavour with delicate tannins and luscious, sweet fruit. This wine includes aromas of dark ripe cherries and forest floor, with combined characteristics of sweet spice, vanilla, and toasted oak. With rich flavours of berry compote and a long finish, this vintage is an excellent pair for chicken cordon bleu or stir-fried prawns and veggies.

Drive right into the Hot Pursuit 2016. This vintage has a rich texture, full body and smooth tannins with strong red and black fruit flavours. Find deep berry and peppery aromas with a touch of soft oak on the palate. Both Hot Pursuit vintages serve as wonderful dinner wines or as pairings with charcuterie and hearty appetizers.

Sip on the Cabernet Sauvignon 2015. Rich ruby in colour with aromas of dark fruit, currants, warm charcoal and a hint of leather. With complex flavours of black cherry, vanilla, sweet spice and smoke, it makes a great pair with barbecued meats, a hearty burger, or on its own with old cheese and crackers.

End with everyone’s favourite, a sweet red kiss (Beso Dulce Red). This year’s vintage is made from Cabernet Franc, Merlot, and Syrah which gives savoury aromas of chocolate, coffee, and dried fruit. It is soft on the palate and one of the smoothest red wines you’ll ever drink. The ripe red fruit and a hint of sweetness balance the soft tannins which make it easy to pair; from mushroom ratatouille to a grilled steak, this versatile wine goes with almost anything! Try it on its own or with bbq ribs, pasta, burgers, and pizza!
